The University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team is set to begin its 2025 season on Sunday, hosting Mount Saint Mary’s at Rhodes Field in Philadelphia. The match is scheduled for a 5 p.m. kickoff and will be available for viewing on ESPN+.
Penn holds a strong record against Mount Saint Mary’s, leading the all-time series 5-0. Their last meeting was in 2019 at Rhodes Field, where Penn secured a 1-0 victory. Four of those five wins have taken place in University City.
According to the Ivy League’s women’s soccer preseason poll released Monday, Penn is tied for sixth place with Dartmouth. The Quakers finished their previous season with a win over Cornell and ended the year with a 2-8-6 overall record, including a 1-3-3 mark in Ivy League play.
Returning players include Annabel Austen, Clare Robke, Mia Fuss, Anuli Okafor, Taylor Ferraro, Eden Veenema, and Lily White. Goalkeeper Annabel Austen returns after earning First Team All-Ivy honors last season. She led the Ivy League with 74 saves and played every minute for Penn during the campaign.
New additions to the roster include freshmen Lauren Anderson, Kylie Emanuel, Casey Forman, Landon Lipton, Leah Lynch, Nicki Masseur, Zula Root, Lauren Stevens, Keira Taylor and assistant coach Seve Hirst.
Penn also achieved academic recognition by receiving its 25th consecutive Team Academic Award from United Soccer Coaches earlier this month.
Mount Saint Mary’s enters Sunday’s game following losses to Delaware (5-2) and Towson (5-0). Cassidy Nichols and Taylor Simmons have provided goals for the Mountaineers so far this season. Simmons leads her team with three points through two games. Abigail Makela has played as goalkeeper for Mount Saint Mary’s across both matches.
