The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team will begin its 2025-26 season on Sunday, November 9, at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The event will take place at Freedom High School, with the first matches starting at 9 a.m. Fans can follow the action through FloWrestling and live results.
This year’s tournament field includes teams such as Appalachian State, Army, Binghamton, Bloomsburg, Clarion, Columbia, Duke, Franklin & Marshall (F&M), Harvard, Hofstra, Indiana, Lehigh, Lock Haven, Long Island University (LIU), Maryland, Navy, Northern Iowa, Rutgers, Sacred Heart and Virginia. Penn will compete alongside these programs throughout the day.
Reflecting on last year’s performance at the Journeymen Classic, Nick Incontrera won first place in the 174-pound bracket and received a hammer award for his efforts.
The Quakers return two NCAA qualifiers this season: Cross Wasilewski at 149 pounds and Jude Swisher at 157 pounds. At the 2025 Ivy League Championships earlier this year, Wasilewski claimed the title in his weight class while Swisher finished as runner-up. Both wrestlers are currently ranked in national polls—Wasilewski is ranked fifth at 149 pounds and Swisher twelfth at 157 pounds by FloWrestling and Intermat.
Several freshmen have joined Penn’s roster for this season. Newcomers include Caden Bellis (165), Liam Carlin (174), Deven Casey (133), Brian Heard (174), Greyson Meak (184), Davis Motyka (125), Isaias Rodriguez-Jimenez (165), Wyatt Stout (157) and Nathan Taylor (141).
The coaching staff also features new additions and familiar faces. Matt Valenti—a Penn wrestling alumnus—takes over as head coach for his first season leading the program. He is joined by NCAA All-American Lennox Wolak and Olympian Darian Cruz. Roger Reina continues to serve as head coach emeritus.
