As the Philadelphia Phillies prepare for the 2026 season, two of their top prospects are set to make an immediate impact. Right-hander Andrew Painter and outfielder Justin Crawford are expected to be on the Opening Day roster, marking a rare situation for a team that has regularly competed for postseason berths in recent years.

The Phillies have reached the playoffs each of the past four seasons but have not returned to the World Series since 2022. With an infusion of young talent, there is anticipation within the organization that this could help push them further. The club previously achieved World Series victories in 1980 and 2008, according to their official website.

Crawford is viewed as a strong candidate for the center field position and may begin at the bottom of the lineup, potentially providing speed before turning over to leadoff hitters. Painter, meanwhile, will get opportunities in the rotation with Zack Wheeler recovering from injury.

Aidan Miller tops this year’s prospect list. He will start his season in Triple-A after making adjustments late last year that could soon lead him to force management decisions about his promotion. Francisco Renteria stands out among newcomers; although only 17 and yet to play professionally, he is one of two international signees ranked among his team’s top five prospects.

Ramon Marquez made one of the biggest jumps on this year’s list after signing as a relatively unknown international player in January 2025. Skipping rookie leagues, he posted impressive strikeout rates across multiple minor league levels last year. Conversely, Seth Johnson fell off the Top 30 list despite contributing at the major league level due to struggles with consistency in Triple-A.

Phillies’ prospects are evaluated using MLB’s scouting scale across categories such as hitting (Justin Crawford: 60), power (Aidan Miller: 60), running (Justin Crawford: 75), arm strength (Bryan Rincon/Aidan Miller: 60), defense (Dante Nori/Bryan Rincon: 60), and various pitching metrics including fastball velocity (Andrew Painter/Gage Wood: 70).

Of their Top 30 prospects for this season, most were acquired through drafts or international signings rather than trades or free agency. Seven players are projected to reach MLB during this season, with others expected between now and 2031.
