Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies has taken the top spot in the latest Hitter Power Rankings, according to MLB.com’s data-driven evaluation. The rankings are based on a formula that weighs recent and season-long performance, as well as statistics from the past 365 days.
Schwarber’s rise to first place comes after a surge in his offensive output since mid-June. Over his last 39 games, he has slugged .714 with 18 home runs, bringing his total to 40 homers for the third time in four seasons. At age 32, he is on pace for what could be his first 50-home run season if he remains healthy.
Nick Kurtz of the Athletics made a notable debut at number two. Kurtz, who was selected fourth overall in the 2024 draft and debuted this April, has posted a .311 batting average with 23 home runs in just 74 games. Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers holds third place; while his OPS since July 1 is .865—below his usual standard—he still leads the National League in slugging percentage (.601), OPS (.981), and total bases (264). Ohtani also leads Major League Baseball with 105 runs scored and is on track to challenge records not seen since Jeff Bagwell’s 150-run season in 2000.
Aaron Judge of the Yankees fell to fourth after missing ten games due to injury but still maintains impressive numbers: a .339/.446/.705 line with 37 home runs. Kyle Stowers of the Marlins rounds out the top five after an impressive run that saw him hit .339 with 15 homers over his last 36 games.
Other players featured include José Ramírez (Guardians), Manny Machado (Padres), Cal Raleigh (Mariners), Bo Bichette (Blue Jays), and Jarren Duran (Red Sox). Honorable mentions go to Eugenio Suárez, Will Smith, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bryce Harper, Corey Seager, Randy Arozarena, Freddie Freeman, Shea Langeliers, Willy Adames, and George Springer.
Schwarber’s strong performance highlights both his individual achievement and contributes significantly to the Phillies’ offense this season.
