Eduardo Tait, the No. 4 prospect for the Philadelphia Phillies, delivered his most productive performance since being promoted to High-A with Jersey Shore. The 18-year-old catcher collected three hits, including two doubles, and drove in two runs during Sunday’s game. This marked Tait’s first two-double game of the season and his eighth game with three or more hits this year. In six games at High-A, he has already recorded three doubles, reflecting his ability to impact games offensively. Prior to his promotion, Tait had tallied 19 doubles and 11 home runs.
Other prospects across Minor League Baseball also had standout performances over the weekend as organizations evaluate talent ahead of the Trade Deadline later this week. Carson Benge of Binghamton (New York Mets organization) hit two home runs in his first two at-bats and finished with four hits and three RBIs. Leo De Vries of Fort Wayne (San Diego Padres organization) homered for the third time in July, while Kevin McGonigle of Erie (Detroit Tigers organization) contributed two doubles and two RBIs after recently moving up to Double-A.
Additional notable performances included Bryce Eldridge (San Francisco Giants organization), who hit a three-run homer for Sacramento; Jesús Rodriguez (New York Yankees organization), who had a career-high six RBIs for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre; Gage Stanifer (Toronto Blue Jays organization), who struck out eight batters over five innings for Vancouver; and Didier Fuentes (Atlanta Braves organization), who matched his season high with nine strikeouts in five innings for Gwinnett.
As teams prepare for potential roster changes before the Trade Deadline, these minor league players are drawing attention from scouts and front offices.
