Philadelphia Phillies prospect Luke Gabrysh struck out four batters in a single inning during his outing for High-A Jersey Shore at ShoreTown Ballpark in Lakewood, N.J., according to an April 10 announcement. The achievement occurred on Friday as Gabrysh faced the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Mets’ High-A affiliate.
This accomplishment is notable because striking out four hitters in one inning is a rare feat, only possible when a batter reaches first base after a dropped third strike. Gabrysh began by striking out Mitch Voit swinging; however, Voit advanced to first base due to the third strike getting away. Gabrysh then proceeded to strike out John Bay, Corey Collins, and Colin Houck consecutively to end the frame.
Gabrysh became the sixth pitcher on record for Jersey Shore (the BlueClaws) to record four strikeouts in one inning. He continued his strong performance throughout the game, finishing with four no-hit innings and nine total strikeouts. This outing marks an impressive start for Gabrysh, who was selected as a 15th-round pick in the 2024 Draft.
