Roxborough Memorial Hospital has been honored with the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement award. This recognition highlights the hospital’s commitment to providing stroke patients with treatment based on nationally recognized, research-based guidelines. The aim is to improve survival rates and reduce disability among stroke patients.
Stroke remains a significant health issue in the U.S., being the fifth leading cause of death and a major cause of disability. It occurs when a blood vessel carrying oxygen and nutrients to the brain is blocked or bursts, resulting in brain cell death due to lack of oxygen.
The Get With The Guidelines program assists hospitals nationwide by aligning patient care with the latest research-based guidelines. Roxborough Memorial Hospital’s CEO, Shawn Parekh, expressed pride in receiving this award: “Receiving the Get With The Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus award is a testament to our dedicated team and their relentless pursuit of excellence in patient care.”
Participation in this program requires hospitals to demonstrate adherence to quality stroke care guidelines and focus on patient education for effective health management at home. Steven Messe, M.D., from the American Heart Association, stated, “We are incredibly pleased to recognize Roxborough Memorial Hospital for its commitment to caring for patients with stroke.”
Additionally, Roxborough Memorial Hospital received the Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll award from the American Heart Association. This initiative ensures that patients with Type 2 diabetes receive up-to-date care during hospitalization for stroke.
These achievements underscore Roxborough Memorial Hospital’s dedication to exceptional patient care and community health advancement.
