Kyle Schwarber hit two home runs in the Philadelphia Phillies’ 6-0 win over the Colorado Rockies at Citizens Bank Park, extending his home run streak to four games and bringing his season total to 16, which ties him with Aaron Judge for the most in Major League Baseball. The game took place on May 10 and marked another strong performance as Schwarber continues to chase Ryan Howard’s single-season franchise record of 58 home runs set in 2006.

This achievement puts Schwarber on pace for a potential record-breaking season. His current four-game homer streak is the longest by a Phillies player since Trea Turner hit homers in five consecutive games from August 28 to September 2, 2023. “I feel OK,” Schwarber said after Sunday’s game. When asked if he was being modest about his success, he added: “I feel like there’s obviously been some good results, you know? There’s still some more things that I want to work on and cut out. But obviously, today’s a good result day.”

Schwarber started early by hitting a solo homer off Rockies starter Tomoyuki Sugano in the first inning. Bryce Harper followed immediately with another home run as the Phillies took an early lead. In the second inning, Schwarber hit his second homer of the day off Sugano’s splitter, temporarily taking sole possession of the MLB home run lead before Judge matched him later that afternoon.

Outfielder Brandon Marsh commented on Schwarber’s performance: “It’s insane,” Marsh said. “I don’t want to say it’s to the point where we expect it, but it’s like, ‘Oh, another one. Another one.’ It’s special.” Marsh himself went four-for-four at bat during Sunday’s game and now leads Major League Baseball with a .353 batting average this season. “That’s pretty freaking cool,” Marsh said about leading all players in batting average this year.

Sunday’s victory gave Philadelphia its fourth series win since interim manager Don Mattingly took over on April 28; under Mattingly they have gone ten wins and three losses overall and improved their record to nineteen wins and twenty-two losses for the season so far.

The Phillies will take their first scheduled off-day under Mattingly before beginning a three-game series against Boston starting Tuesday; former Phillie Ranger Suarez is expected to start Thursday’s finale against Boston.

The Philadelphia Phillies have won World Series titles in both 1980 and 2008 according to their official website. The team represents Philadelphia as part of Major League Baseball’s National League while engaging fans through games at Citizens Bank Park—home field since its opening in 2004—and community outreach efforts according to the official website.
