Men's Lacrosse Topped by Stevens in MAC Freedom Action

Arcadia University Athletics issued the following announcement on Apr. 27.

The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team fell in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) game to Stevens, 10-8, on Wednesday night at Jean Lenox West Field.  

The Knights' record fell to 10-5 overall and 6-1 in MAC Freedom play.  

Billy Burton, Wesley Sporer and Brian Albertsen all scored twice for the Knights. Kyle McLaughlin and Justin Chinici added a goal apiece. Brady Manion dished out three assists for Arcadia in the loss.  

Timmy Fyock made 14 saves in goal for Arcadia.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Arcadia scored the first two goals of the game through Burton and Chinici. Stevens then cut the Knights lead to 2-1 but Albertsen scored a man-up goal to regain a two-run lead. The Ducks once again cut the Arcadia lead to one, but Sporer gave the Knights a 4-2 advantage. Stevens scored the last two goals of the opening quarter to tied the game at four after 15 minutes of play.  
  • Sporer scored his second goal of the game less than a minute into the second quarter to give Arcadia a 5-4 lead. Stevens scored the final two goals of the frame to lead 6-5 after one half of play.  
  • McLaughlin tied the game at six with five minutes left in the third quarter, but Stevens scored a man-up goal with 40 seconds left in the frame, giving it a 7-6 lead after three quarters. 
  • The Ducks began the final quarter on a 2-0 run, giving them a 9-6 lead. Albertsen hit the back of the net to cut the Arcadia deficit to 9-7, but Stevens answered less than two minutes later to regain a three-goal lead. Burton scored with four minutes left, but the Knights couldn't get any closer as they fell, 10-8.
