Arcadia University Athletics issued the following announcement on May 15.
After defeating Johnson & Wales 4-2 in to open the day, the Arcadia University softball team fell to Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), 6-2, in the regional final on Sunday at Blankley Field.
The Knights finish the season with a 32-11 record after advancing to their second regional final in the last four seasons. Arcadia's 32 wins are the third most in program history behind the 2006 team (34) and the 2019 team (33).
Megan Sooy, Juliana Presto and Serena Goodridge were all named the Glenside Regional All-Tournament Team. The full all-tournament team can be found below.
In the win over Johnson & Wales, Brenna Dolan picked up her 10th victory of the season, pitching 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits, two walks and one strikeout. Juliana Presto picked up her third save as she pitched the final 2.1 innings, only allowing one hit to advance the Knights to the regional final.
Nathalia Diianni, Sooy and Effie Jamanis all had two hits in the victory. Sooy had two RBI's, while Diianni and Jamanis each added one.
In the loss to WPI, Presto got the start in the circle and pitched six innings, allowing six runs on seven hits, five walks and four strikeouts.
Madi Costigan, Jamanis, Morgan Tripodi and Grace Caldwell all had two hits in the loss to the Engineers. Costigan and Diianni each drove in a run for the Knights.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights got out to a strong start as they plated three runs in the first inning. Sooy drove in two runs with a single and Jamanis had an RBI single to give Arcadia an early 3-0 lead.
- Johnson & Wales got within a run in the third inning with a single that drove in two runs to cut its deficit to 3-2.
- Diianni gave Arcadia some cushion as she had an RBI single in the sixth inning to extend the Knights lead to 4-2. That would stand as the final score line as Arcadia advance to the regional final.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- WPI scored a run in the first and second innings, and then added two more in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.
- Costigan had a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to get the Knights within, 4-1.
- The Engineers plated two more runs in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 6-1.
- Diianni brought in a run in the seventh inning through a fielder's choice, but WPI held on to win the regional title.
