He stated: "I’m devastated to hear the news of a small plane crash in Northern Philadelphia. Thank you to all the emergency personnel responding on the scene. As we learn more about this terrible tragedy, my heart is with the victims, their families, and all of the Philly community."
Later that day, he emphasized the significance of Black history as an integral part of American history. Evans tweeted: "Black history IS America's history! From the Underground Railroad to the Civil Rights Movement, Philly has been at the center for the fight of freedom & equality. This #BlackHistoryMonth, let's celebrate and honor this rich legacy through our advocacy and actions."
