Congressman Dwight Evans addresses plane crash and celebrates Black History Month

Congressman Dwight Evans, who represents Pennsylvania's 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of tweets on February 1, 2025. His messages addressed recent events and ongoing initiatives related to Black History Month.

On February 1, Congressman Evans expressed his sorrow regarding a small plane crash in Northern Philadelphia. He stated: "I’m devastated to hear the news of a small plane crash in Northern Philadelphia. Thank you to all the emergency personnel responding on the scene. As we learn more about this terrible tragedy, my heart is with the victims, their families, and all of the Philly community."

Later that day, he emphasized the significance of Black history as an integral part of American history. Evans tweeted: "Black history IS America's history! From the Underground Railroad to the Civil Rights Movement, Philly has been at the center for the fight of freedom & equality. This #BlackHistoryMonth, let's celebrate and honor this rich legacy through our advocacy and actions."

In a subsequent tweet posted moments later, Evans provided resources for those interested in participating in Black History Month events across Philadelphia. He encouraged individuals to visit a specific link for more information: "To learn more about some of the many Black History Month events happening throughout #Philly this February, visit:"
