Dwight Evans, a U.S. Congressman representing Pennsylvania’s 3rd district, has been vocal on social media about issues concerning taxpayer data privacy and legislative actions against the Trump administration. Evans, who has served in Congress since 2016 after succeeding Chaka Fattah, took to Twitter to express his stance on various matters.
On February 18, 2025, Evans criticized the access of sensitive IRS and Social Security information by an "unelected, unaccountable billionaire Trump donor." He announced his support for HR 1101 aimed at safeguarding constituents from unauthorized intrusions into taxpayer data. "An unelected, unaccountable billionaire Trump donor shouldn't have access to YOUR sensitive IRS & Social Security information."
The following day, February 19, he addressed concerns over job and funding cuts associated with Musk and Trump. Evans questioned whether Congressional Republicans would translate their concerns into action by voting alongside Democrats to oppose these cuts and privacy invasions. He highlighted that only three Republican votes were needed to make a difference. "Congressional Republicans have started to raise concerns over Musk/Trump's cuts to jobs & funding."
Later on February 19, Evans invited his constituents in Philadelphia to participate in a telephone town hall scheduled for March 8. During this event, he plans to update them on Congressional efforts against the perceived abuses of the Trump Administration and listen to their concerns. "Hey #Philly, join me on March 8 from 11 AM to 12 PM for a telephone town hall!"
