A study conducted by Dr. Cherie Erkmen, a Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, has revealed significant pay disparities among heart surgeons based on gender. The research was published in the Annals of Thoracic Surgery and indicates that female heart surgeons earn substantially less than their male counterparts.
Cardiovascular Business recently featured these findings, shedding light on the ongoing issue of pay inequity within the medical profession.
“Beginning at 8:00 AM on September 3, Temple University Hospital – Main Campus (Broad and Ontario Streets) will no longer provide Labor and Delivery services,” an announcement states. “All childbirth services will be relocated to our new hospital location.”
