A recent study suggests that increased muscle strength could potentially mitigate the risk of developing type 2 diabetes for individuals with a genetic predisposition to the condition. Dr. Ajaykumar D. Rao, who serves as Chief of the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, provided insights on these findings to HealthCentral.

The research indicates that building stronger muscles may play a significant role in preventing type 2 diabetes among those genetically inclined to develop it.

Dr. Rao shared his thoughts on the implications of this study: “Having stronger muscles may help stave off type 2 diabetes in those with inherited risk for the disease.”
