Carol Von Hofen, a registered nurse in the Department of Neurology, and Sharon Towson, a Clerk V in the Department of Ophthalmology, have been recognized with the Temple Faculty Physician C.A.R.E.S. Award for April 2025. This award acknowledges the exceptional contributions of clinical and administrative staff.

Both recipients were nominated by their peers and received endorsements from TFP leadership due to their remarkable dedication and commitment to excellence. The award highlights individuals who exemplify compassion, advocacy, respect, excellence, and service.

Carol Von Hofen was praised for her compassionate care and advocacy for patients with Multiple Sclerosis. Her nomination states: “Carol provides clinical and administrative support to our patients living with Multiple Sclerosis. In addition to her clinical role, she serves as an excellent advocate for patients. She is on the phone daily with insurance companies, medical suppliers, and pharmaceutical companies to help patients obtain the essential items they need. She provides respectful and compassionate care for patients with a challenging chronic condition.”

Sharon Towson was commended for her professionalism in the Ophthalmology Department. Her nomination noted: “Sharon Towson goes above and beyond for patients in the Ophthalmology Department, even beyond the check-in/check-out phase. Even when a patient isn’t in the best mood, she remains calm. She gives patients space to express their feelings while helping them solve manageable issues.”

The TFP C.A.R.E.S. Award celebrates these achievements and recognizes their impact on teams and patients.
