Michelle Clanton-Boykin and Josephine Balderas have been recognized as recipients of the July 2025 Temple Faculty Physicians (TFP) C.A.R.E.S. Award. The award highlights contributions from clinical and administrative staff who demonstrate compassion, advocacy, respect, excellence, and service.
Balderas works as a Receptionist/Scheduler in the Department of Pediatrics, while Clanton-Boykin serves as a Medical Assistant in the Department of Anesthesiology. Both were nominated by their peers and received endorsements from TFP leadership.

She consistently goes above and beyond for both patients and coworkers, demonstrating reliability, leadership, and a remarkable work ethic. Her deep experience allows her to navigate any situation with ease, while her warmth, humor, and genuine care make the office feel welcoming and supportive.
Josie builds lasting connections with families and colleagues alike, treating patients and their parents with the same compassion as her own family. Her positive impact is felt by everyone, and she truly embodies excellence, dedication, and kindness in all that she does.”
Clanton-Boykin was recognized for her professional skills during medical emergencies involving two patients experiencing cardiac distress over the last six months.
“Michelle is an exceptionally conscientious Medical Assistant whose professionalism and clinical acumen consistently elevate patient care. Over the last six months, she was instrumental in managing two patients experiencing cardiac distress. In both situations, Michelle quickly recognized the severity of the problem, calmly communicated with the patients, and ensured their safe transport to the ED. She went above and beyond by personally confirming that each patient was seen promptly, turning potentially critical scenarios into exemplary examples of patient-centered care. Michelle’s dedication, composure, and expertise make her an invaluable asset both to our practice and the patients we serve.”
Both honorees celebrated their awards alongside colleagues at Temple University Hospital – Main Campus.
