Temple Health hosted its 70th annual Acres of Diamonds Gala on May 8th at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. The event aimed to raise funds to support lifesaving patient care across Temple Health campuses and healthcare excellence. Michael A. Young, President and CEO of Temple Health, addressed attendees, stating, “We’re gathered here tonight for a greater purpose… To stand together in support of Temple Health’s mission of providing world-class care that’s rooted in compassion, driven by innovation, and delivered with respect.”
This year’s gala was co-chaired by Steven R. Carson, Senior Vice President of Population Health and CEO of the Temple Center for Population Health, and Tracy Davidson, NBC10 anchor and reporter.
The Diamond Award was presented to H. Chase Lenfest, Founder and Board Chair of North10, Philadelphia, and Reverend Michael A. Major, Sr., Founder and Board President of Called To Serve CDC. The award is Temple Health’s highest honor recognizing exceptional social responsibility.
Lenfest has been recognized for his commitment to community development in North Philadelphia. Reverend Major has focused on economic growth and empowerment through education.
Both honorees received a special proclamation from Pennsylvania State Senator Christine Tartaglione. Abhi Rastogi, President and CEO of Temple University Hospital and Executive Vice President of Temple Health, offered a toast highlighting “lifesaving and community-building care” as well as future healthcare leaders.
Entertainment at the gala included performances by the Zion Baptist Church Choir, an ESQ electric string ensemble, Starlight Experience, Fleur Seule, and ensembles from Temple University.
The evening concluded with guests enjoying music while supporting equitable healthcare.
