ALBERT M. GREENFIELD SCHOOL: Chrome Books And Three Marking Periods!

Schoolnews

Albert M. Greenfield School issued the following announcement on April 6

The coronavirus response is altering the academic year for Philadelphia school students.

The distribution of 50,000 Chromebooks begins in earnest next week, but some schools have already started to give them out.

Superintendent William Hite, in a Facebook Live message to parents, said the district is taking steps to make sure the process is as safe as possible.

"Gloves and masks will be provided for all who volunteer, in addition to sanitizing products that individuals can use,” Hite said.

He said online classes will begin the week of April 20. And with schools closed until further notice, the district is shifting from four marking periods to three, with the third marking period staying open until the end of the year.

Hite said after spring break, he would announce more details of how students would be graded. But he said the district wants to be sure students can learn the material they need to go on to college or move up to the next grade.
