Meet our DAISY Award recipient for the month of August, Jonathan McCullough, BSN, RN, who works in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.
Jonathan was nominated by a patient who wrote on her nomination form: “I am 68 years old, a mother, and a grandmother. When I was told that I had a heart attack, I was devastated. I never had any problems with my heart. As I was being prepared for the procedure I began to panic with fear and became an emotional wreck, but God sent his angel Jonathan. Yes, during these times it makes a difference. I am a black senior, Jonathan a young white male. He held my hand not once, but twice, and talked me through what was going to happen. He gave me sense of security. While he held my hand, my fears and anxiety about not knowing what results I would get went away. I had no family there and I believe God sent Jonathan as a comforter. As long as I live, I will never forget this young man holding my hand with warmth with compassion. It was real. I went through the procedure with flying colors and all good results. Jonathan encouraged me. He told me I had nothing to worry about.”
