Jefferson Frankford Hospital issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.
Jefferson Torresdale Hospital is proud to announce the recent launch of an advanced Thrombectomy Program in our Emergency Department. For the first time, this facility can evaluate patients and perform endovascular thrombectomy (retrieval of a blood clot from a blood vessel in the brain) and providing effective post-procedural care. This means university-level thrombectomy treatment and care, which will have a significant impact for victims of ischemic stroke in our community.
One of the advantages of our thrombectomy program is Jefferson Expert Teleconsulting (JET), the region's first university-based high-tech mobile robotic teleconsulting system. JET allows Jefferson neuroscience specialists to evaluate time-sensitive neurovascular diseases, most notably stroke, in real time and without delay.
The program is led by Reid Gooch, MD, Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery, Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience at Jefferson.
We’re proud to bring this vital resource to the patients in our community.
