Fox Chase Cancer Center's Biosample Repository Facility in Philadelphia has been reaccredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) following an on-site inspection. This facility plays a crucial role in collecting, processing, storing, and analyzing biological samples for research.

Johanna James, manager of the facility, remarked, "The reaccreditation of the Biosample Repository Facility is a significant milestone, demonstrating our commitment to the highest standards in biospecimen management and research integrity." She further praised her team for their dedication and expertise in maintaining quality and compliance.

The Cancer Center Director also emphasized the importance of this achievement: "This reaccreditation demonstrates to our patients that our facilities meet the highest quality standards. We are proud that our Biosample Repository Facility has been reaccredited by CAP."

CAP accreditation is recognized globally for its rigorous standards. It ensures quality and reduces risk in laboratories, which can lead to improved patient outcomes. Fox Chase’s repository is part of over 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.

The accreditation process involves a thorough review of laboratory records, quality control procedures, staff qualifications, equipment, safety programs, and overall management. These inspections ensure that activities reflect current best practices.

In addition to accreditation services for over 23,000 laboratories worldwide, CAP offers proficiency testing and quality improvement tools to promote excellence in laboratory medicine.
