Montgomery County Invites Public to Provide Feedback on Cross Country Trail East Proposed Route

Running race results 2 form 600

County of Montgomery issued the following announcement on  Oct. 29.

The Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC), in partnership with its technical and engineering consultant, NV5, continues to study the feasibility of the easternmost segment of Montgomery County’s Cross County Trail. This six-mile-long section of trail, when completed, will begin at Welsh Road in Upper Dublin Township and terminate at the County’s Pennypack Trail. The project may involve several municipalities, including Upper Dublin, Upper Moreland, Horsham, Hatboro, and Bryn Athyn.

The trail planning consultant has completed a map of potential trail routes for public feedback. Now through Monday, November 22, 2021, community members can visit the project web page at www.montcopa.org/CrossCountyTrailEast to watch a presentation from the trail planning team and view and comment on a virtual project map. The map contains an interactive layout of potential trail routes and outlines the considerations made for each particular alternative.

In addition, community members may visit the project web page to register for a live, virtual open house, which will take place on Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. via Zoom. Representatives from MCPC and NV5 will share information about the project and answer questions at any time throughout the 90-minute period. Participants are encouraged to view the video and participate in the online virtual project map before attending the live open house.

Feedback received will assist the planning team in determining the final preferred trail routes and set the course for future design and construction of the remainder of the Cross County Trail. Once completed, the Cross County Trail is planned to run 17.5 miles from Conshohocken in the west to the Pennypack Trail in the east and will connect the Schuylkill River Trail and the Wissahickon, Cresheim, and Power Line Trails.

To view the video presentation, access the virtual project map, and register for the open house, visit www.montcopa.org/CrossCountyTrailEast.
