Keystone and Wilson Split Series, Sets Up Winner-Take-All Game Three

Colonial States Athletic Conference issued the following announcement on May 13.

For the first time since 2017, the Colonial States Athletic Conference Baseball Championship will come down to a winner-take-all deciding game as Wilson and Keystone split a doubleheader on Friday.

In game one, Wilson pushed across 11 runs to take an 11-2 win over the Giants, while Keystone battled back in game two to take a 6-3 decision over the Phoenix.

Game three in the best of three series will be at noon on Saturday.

In game one, Wilson played three runs in the first inning, powered by a two-run homerun from senior Gerald Buchanan. Keystone eventually got to within two at 4-2 after three, but, Wilson plated five hits in the sixth inning to break the game open. Dean Mercer hit a three-run home run in the sixth.

Cam Nolet got the win to move to 9-0, striking out eight in seven innings of work.

In game two, Keystone broke open a 2-2 game with three runs in the third, powered by a two-run single from graduate student JD Barrett. Senior Vince Montone hit a homerun in the sixth to give the Giants a final 6-3 margin.

Freshman Brandon Valles got the win, while junior Patrick Adamski got a four-inning save to hold the lead.
