A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Montgomery County Election Department on February 5, 2025. The request, issued by East Montgomery Times, sought comprehensive information about all candidates running in the upcoming spring election.
As part of our commitment to providing accurate and comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs, we requested a list of all candidates under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law. The information requested included the candidate's full name, the office they are running for, their jurisdiction, and party affiliation.
In addition to this basic information, we also asked for detailed contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address. Access to these public records is essential for us at East Montgomery Times to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. As always, we remain committed to delivering accurate and timely news coverage that serves our community.
