Congressman Dwight Evans, representing Pennsylvania's 3rd district since 2016, has recently expressed his views on several pressing political issues through a series of tweets. Evans, who succeeded Chaka Fattah in the U.S. Congress and previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for over three decades, is known for his outspoken opinions.
On March 13, 2025, Congressman Evans commented on government shutdowns by drawing parallels between past and present administrations. "2018: President Trump, Republican House, Republican Senate, 35-day shutdown. 2025: President Trump, Republican House, Republican Senate, partial shutdowns ALREADY happening." He quoted Leader Jeffries from 2023 saying that "shutdowns are in Republicans’ DNA."
Later that day, Evans voiced his opposition to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy's leadership at the United States Postal Service. "I have called for years for firing DeJoy! Letting “DOGE” wreck your Postal Service is UNACCEPTABLE." He indicated that legal and congressional battles might be necessary to address this issue.
In another tweet directed towards Senate Democrats on the same day, Evans criticized a House GOP bill supported by the Trump administration. "The Trump administration confirms the House GOP bill is a free pass to keep gutting public services." He urged Democrats to demand that House Republicans return to Washington D.C. to vote on a viable funding bill.
