Congressman Dwight Evans, a longstanding representative of Pennsylvania’s 3rd district, actively voiced his concerns about tariff policies via his Twitter account on April 10, 2025. Evans emphasizes the constitutional role of Congress in these matters and has collaborated with his colleagues to address these issues.

In his initial tweet on April 10, 2025, Evans shared a link inviting followers to learn more on the subject.

Later that day, Evans addressed Congress's authority over tariffs and taxes, asserting that these policies should be debated and decided by the elected officials in Congress rather than by an individual. He shared his thoughts on April 10, 2025, stating, "Congress has constitutional authority over tariffs & other taxes. These policies should be debated and voted on by 535 of the people’s elected representatives, not imposed by one person. (2/2) #TakeHisKeys."

In another tweet from April 10, 2025, Evans expressed his position regarding the current administration's handling of tariffs, directly referencing former President Donald Trump. He advocated for legislative measures to reclaim Congress's trade authority: "It’s time to take the tariff keys away from Trump & stop this chaos that’s damaging our economy and wrecking people’s savings! I joined @RepLindaSanchez & our @waysmeanscmte Democratic colleagues in introducing a bill to reclaim Congress' trade authority. (1/2)"

Dwight Evans has been serving Pennsylvania's 3rd district in the U.S. Congress since 2016, succeeding Chaka Fattah. Before his tenure in Congress, Evans was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for 35 years. A Philadelphia native, he graduated from La Salle University in 1975 and has since remained committed to his constituents while residing in his birth city.
